NFL Power Rankings: Broncos maintain hold on No. 1

Posted Oct 15, 2013

Jaguars.com Senior Writer John Oehser ranks the 32 NFL teams before Week 7.

JACKSONVILLE – Here are the jaguars.com pre-Week 7 2013 power rankings. And we all know how important these are:

1. Denver Broncos (6-0) | 1 | Still the pretty clear No. 1 team

2. Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) | 3 | Defense is for real, but will it be enough to beat Manning and Broncos?

3. Seattle Seahawks (5-1) | 5 | Will be very tough in postseason if they get homefield advantage

4. New England Patriots (5-1) | 6 | Brady, Belichick will give this team a chance all season

5. New Orleans Saints (5-1) | 2 | When your lone loss is at New England, you’re a power team

6. Indianapolis Colts (4-2) | 4 | Whoever the quarterback, Colts always struggle in San Diego

7. San Francisco 49ers (4-2) | 7 | Recovering after a brief, early stumble

8. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) | 9 | Best in North, but can they match other AFC powers?

9. Green Bay Packers (3-2) | 8 | Quietest two-loss team in the NFL right now

10. Detroit Lions (4-2) | 12 | North shaping up as strikingly deep division

11. Miami Dolphins (3-2) | 11 | Looking to snap two-game losing streak after bye

12. Chicago Bears (4-2) | 13 | Cutler, play-making defense will keep this team in it this season

13. Dallas Cowboys (3-3) | 14 | Must get more consistent to get where they want to go

14. Baltimore Ravens (3-3) | 10 | Up and down start not shocking in wake of offseason losses

15. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) | 18 | Very quietly they remain in first place

16. San Diego Chargers (3-3) | 22 | When this team is good, it’s very, very good

17. St. Louis Rams (3-3) | 24 | Were they written off too soon?

18. Tennessee Titans (3-3) | 19 | Played better Sunday than most teams play in Seattle

19. Cleveland Browns (3-3) | 16 | Still showing a lot of signs of being on the right course

20. New York Jets (3-3) | 17 | Even with Sunday’s loss, this start has been impressive

21. Atlanta Falcons (1-4) | 20 | Difficult to turn this around without Julio Jones

22. Arizona Cardinals (3-3) | 21| A very improved team in a very, very deep division

23. Houston Texans (2-4) | 15 | A lot more wrong right now than Schaub

24. Carolina Panthers (2-3) | 26 | Inconsistent, but still showing early signs

25. Buffalo Bills (2-4) | 23 | Much, much closer than record indicates

26. Oakland Raiders (2-4) | 25 | Significantly better than many expected

27. Washington Redskins (1-4) | 27 | Can RGIII get right in time to turn this around?

28. Minnesota Vikings (1-4) | 28 | Adrian Peterson may not be able to save this season

29. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) | 30 | Steelers outmanned this year, but they’ll always fight

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-5) | 29 | This doesn’t look savable

31. New York Giants (0-6) | 31 | They weren’t expected to be great, but they didn’t expect this

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-6) | 32 | Too many double-digit losses to inch their way up…yet
