Jones-Drew to undergo MRI

Posted Dec 6, 2013

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew sustains hamstring strain in victory over Houston; S Chris Prosinski in concussion program.

JACKSONVILLE – Maurice Jones-Drew sustained a strained hamstring late Thursday night.

He is undergoing an MRI Friday.

Jones-Drew, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of the Jaguars’ 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans, Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley said Friday morning. The extent of the injury wasn’t immediately known.

“We’ll know more about it after we get the results back,” Bradley said Friday morning, a day after the Jaguars’ third consecutive victory and their fourth in five games.

“We went back and forth (during the game). He made it sound like more of a cramp during the game. We thought he’d be OK. We’ll go in and look. That’s why the MRI. We’ll get more information after that.”

Jones-Drew rushed for 103 yards on 14 carries against the Texans, his first 100-yard game of the season and his first since rushing for 177 in a victory at Indianapolis in Week Three of the 2012 season.

Jones-Drew, who has rushed for 719 yards and five touchdowns on 208 carries this season, has rushed for 84, 77 and 103 yards over the last three games. The Jaguars as a team have rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the last three games after not reaching that mark in the first 10 games of the season.

Jaguars third-year safety Chris Prosinski sustained a concussion Thursday and will enter the league’s concussion program. Wide receiver Ace Sanders sustained an ankle injury but returned to the game.

The Jaguars next play in 10 days when they play host to the Buffalo Bills at EverBank Field on Sunday December 15 at 1 p.m.
