Jaguars awarded linebacker Allen Bradford off waivers

Posted May 13, 2014

With addition of Bradford, Jaguars now at 90 players.

The Jacksonville Jaguars today were awarded third-year linebacker Allen Bradford off waivers from the New York Giants.   The Jaguars have the league limit of 90 players.

Bradford, 5-11, 235, was originally a sixth-round draft pick of Tampa Bay in 2011 as a running back and has also spent time with Seattle.  He played in one game as a rookie with the Buccaneers before he was waived on Oct. 11, 2011 and claimed by the Seahawks as a running back.  He was released two days later and signed as a linebacker to the team’s practice squad where he finished the season.

Bradford spent the majority of the 2012 season on the Seahawks practice squad where he played under Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley.  He was waived on Sept. 12, 2013 and claimed off waivers by the Giants where he played in a career-high 10 games, mostly seeing action on special teams.

A native of San Bernardino, California, Bradford played running back under current Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll at Southern California, finishing his career with 1,585 rushing yards on 267 carries and 16 touchdowns.  He played in 52 games for the Trojans and his 7.2 average per rush as a senior was the second-highest in the nation.  Bradford attended Colton High School in California where he played running back and linebacker.  He totaled 1,869 yards on 143 carries with 29 touchdowns as a senior along with 157 tackles and 12 sacks.
