Jaguars make roster moves

Jaguars sign wide receiver Jeremy Ebert to active roster, offensive tackle DeMarcus Love added to practice squad.

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed first-year wide receiver Jeremy Ebert to the club’s active roster and signed first-year offensive tackle DeMarcus Love to the practice squad.  The Jaguars currently have 53 players on the active roster with wide receiver Justin Blackmon granted a roster exemption for a week. 

Ebert has been on the 53-man roster for the Jaguars the last three games and has two receptions for 10 yards.  He was a seventh-round draft pick of New England in 2012 and spent time on the Patriots’ practice squad.  Ebert played in 49 games with 32 starts at Northwestern where he finished with 173 career receptions for 2,400 yards and 21 touchdowns.   

Love, 6-4, 315, was a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 where he spent the last two seasons.  He spent his entire rookie season on the 53-man roster but was inactive each week.  He missed the entire 2012 season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Love played collegiately at Arkansas where he served as team captain for his final two seasons and earned All-SEC first-team honors as a senior.  He helped the Razorbacks to three bowl games, seeing action in 45 games with 37 starts including 26 consecutive starts to conclude his career.  Of his 37 starts, 26 came at tackle and 11 at guard.  Love attended Carter High School in Dallas, Texas where he was a teammate s with the San Francisco 49ers’ Michael Crabtree.  He finished his career as a guard after starting out as an offensive tackle. 

Love will wear jersey number 72.
